The League of Provinces of the Philippines condemn in no uncertain terms the attempt on the life of Occidental Mindoro Eduardo Gadiano in his office at the Capitol last September 1.

LPP national president and Marinduque Gov. Presbitero J. Velasco Jr. said “we cannot condone such brazen attempt on one of our colleagues. An unprovoked attack such as this, done in the office of Gov. Gadiano at the provincial Capitol should not be left uninvestigated and unresolved.”

Nevertheless, his colleagues in the LPP are happy and thankful that Gov. Gadiano escaped unscathed from the attack, Gov. Velasco continued.

“Although attacks like this against our local officials are sometimes seen as one of those occupational hazards, we cannot let this continue unabated.”

“We are calling on the authorities to investigate this incident, not only because he is a public official, but also this poses a threat to the overall peace and security of the province, especially since the unfortunate incident happened within the seat of government itself.”

He added that this incident highlights the need for government offices to be more vigilant in the implementation of security measures within the premises. (AJS) ###
