HONORABLE JERRY U. DALIPOG, 18TH GOVERNOR OF THE PROVINCE OF IFUGAO AT A GLIMPSE

A public servant who rose from the ranks to serve his municipality then cemented his stature as a bankable leader and is now serving as the 18th provincial governor of Ifugao.

He graduated Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Baguio Colleges Foundation now University of the Cordilleras in 1988 but took the requisites for Bachelor of Science in Sanitary Engineering and graduated the course in 1989. He passed his licensure examination in 1989.

He served as an infra analyst in PLGU Ifugao, got promoted as a Provincial Development Officer I at the Provincial Planning and Development Office in 1991 to 1993. He moved to MLGU Banaue and served his hometown as the municipal engineer from 1993 to 2003 honing his skills and acumen serving Banaue through quality service and sound infrastructure projects.

He is married to a nurse,Ms. Angelina H. Dalipog and they are blessed with three grown up children, two boys and a lady.

The call to serve his own people led him to vie in the mayoralty race which he won thus commencing his political career serving as a municipal mayor spanning 12 years for four terms. His administration marked a new era of governance, highlighted by sterling infrastructure accomplishments such as the opening of roads in areas least trodden , the construction of a six storey pay parking in the very heart of Banaue to establishing inter municipality sisterhood with urban municipalities ushering new opportunities and uplifting the economic standing of the municipality, among others.

The road to the governorship was not an easy undertaking, but perseverance and a firm commitment to deliver on his pledge to give his best for his own people clinched him a decisive victory. Among the notable transformational plans and projects he initiated and pursued, to name a few, are the ongoing construction of the state-of-the art Provincial Sports Complex at the capital town of Lagawe replete with sports facilities, a museum, an administrative building, a food processing center and a transport terminal. Of equal importance is the rehabilitation and construction of LGU owned potable water supply system throughout the province which was launched in the capital town. Road opening of a network of roads, bridging the distance to and from several municipalities of Ifugao to other provinces, were spearheaded by his administration thus promoting viable economic activities and expediting inter municipal and provincial travel. Another is the continuation of the construction of the new Ifugao General Hospital which was stalled for ten years. Representations with the lead health agencies led to the resumption of the construction of the hospital and is earmarked for soft opening by the end of 2022.

His remarkable performance and career is worth replicating and serves as an inspiration for us.
