Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla is the leader in agricultural innovations that has driven villages and towns in the province to take agriculture and farming into a different perspective.

It was all made possible through the education he received at Ateneo De Manila University, together with a degree in Accounting at the Philippine School of Business Administration. His skills as a programmer and IT specialist earned him the ISO 27001 or the Information Security Management Standard for data security.

In 2013, with the highest support and trust by his fellow Leyteños, Governor Petilla entered the political scene and run unopposed for the gubernatorial seat of the province. He has vowed and committed to continue pro-people policies for the upliftment of the province, a trademark of the Petilla administration.

His outstanding excellence in leadership led to his appointment as chairman of the Regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas from 2013 to 2016 and from 2020 to present and sits as executive board of the League of Provinces in the Philippines.

Now on his third term as Leyte Governor, “Mic”, as he is fondly called by his colleagues and supporters; is steadily making his own mark as a service-oriented leader. His poverty alleviation campaign is realized through his Leyte EconoMICs program: a poverty alleviation initiative through the development of a resilient, inclusive, and competitive community economies. Through this program, the province’s poverty incidence shall be reduced from 23.6% in CY 2015 to 9% in CY 2022.
