Rebecca “Nini” Alcantara Ynares is the incumbent Governor of the Province of Rizal. A woman who embarked on her programs on government efficiency, education, clean environment and disaster resiliency, health, economic dynamism, infrastructure development, and a host of other pro-people projects and programs designed to put the province into a higher level of growth and development and competitiveness.
She is a leader of great virtue and simplicity, a Presidential “Ulirang Ina” Awardee, who was elected as the First Lady-Governor of Rizal Province in 2001. She returned in 2013, and committed herself to continue empowering those within the spectrum of the marginalized sector to provide their social needs, especially education which she firmly believes can unlock poverty and provide the progress we all aspire for our province and people. She also conceptualized and implemented an expanded and improved Rizal Provincial Hospital System (RPHS) which has now nine (9) hospitals that provide free medical services to the less privileged constituents of the province.
While she fully grasp the greatest environmental, social and economic threats facing our planet today, that is climate change, she institutionalized and further enhanced her YES (Ynares Eco System) Program, she started in 2001 during her first stint as Rizal Governor, primarily aimed at protecting and safeguarding the environment within the context of sustainable development.
In line with her enlightened leadership resulting to numerous awards and recognitions for Rizal Province, Governor Rebecca Ynares is a model wife and mother, a lady of good business acumen, an outstanding civic leader and a dedicated public servant par excellence. She was responsible for the province’s three (3) peat awardee (2016, 2017, 2019) of the distinguished Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and for making the Province of Rizal a Hall of Famer in the prestigious National Competitiveness, being adjudged as the Top 1 Most Competitive Province in the Philippines for five (5) straight years (2016-2020), and for elevating Rizal as the Second Richest Province in the Philippines.
